Starting the day

Posted: 21 Feb 2011 04:17 AM PST

Hi everyone, and welcome back! Quiet Asian session is being followed by an even more quiet European one; majors are barely unchanged from Sunday opening, although greenback is higher against most rivals, except the loonie, that keeps rising on oil price: the barrel is now above $ 93, and USD/CAD at 0.9840 daily low.

Gold is also strong, back above $ 1400/oz, while European indexes are strongly down, despite European data has been pretty encouraging today, with most of the manufacturing and service PMIs positive, and German Ifo hiting record high.

At this point, dollar strength is more a corrective movement due to over extended conditions seen past Friday, rather than self strength; ans with the US on bank holiday, no much more could be expected at this point. Day will probably remain quiet. Anyway, good chance to take a look at technicals. Will start posting in a few minutes.

Have a great day!
